My biography and CV
I am associate professor in Optical Network architectures at the department of Computer Science and Statistics of the University of Dublin, Trinity College. My research interests are Converged metro/access network architecture, Long-Reach passive optical networks, Intra and inter data center communications architectures and protocols, Software Defined Networks access/metro control planes, PON protocols and FPGA prototype development.
I obtained my M.Eng. in telecommunications in 2002 From Polytechnic University of Marche (Italy), and after working first as consultant in Accenture Milan and then as a research scientist for Philips in Germany I joined Trinity College Dublin (TCD) in 2005, where I received my Ph.D. in 2007 submitting a thesis on “Optical IP Switching“.
I entered TCD as assistant professor in 2010 and tenured in 2014. I am part of the CTVR/CONNECT telecommunications research centre at TCD and I am currently technical coordinator of the FP7 DISCUS project and holder of a Science Foundation Ireland Principal Investigator award “O’SHARE‘.
I have authored over 140 journal and conference publications and more than 10 patents.
